While we don't need to bring back the rainbow tie-dye or giant peace symbols, it's easy to add a touch of seventies into your look while still staying modern. Old Navy has tons of fun seventies-inspired pieces and it's easy to incorporate them into your look without looking dated. Try these tricks:
Choose classic silhouettes. When looking for seventies-inspired pieces, look for classic or modern silhouettes, like a tailored button-down, an a-line skirt, or a shirtdress, so the seventies prints or colors look fresh and modern.
Create balance with modern pieces. If your piece is seventies inspired in both silhouette, print, and/or color, style it with modern pieces, like skinny jeans, a fitted leather jacket, or ankle boots.
Old Navy's pretty much done all the work for you with all their modern pieces, like the gorgeous shirtdress I'm wearing, and the darling button downs and cut-off shorts the boys are wearing.
In February, I attended a launch party in LA for Old Navy's seventies-inspired line, and in addition to a killer synchronized roller skating rooftop performance and lots of good seventies music, there was also a floral crown station. They had professionals making them, but I was so inspired by them that I had to try my hand at making a fresh floral crown. It turns out it's really simple, and not only does it make a great accessory for your seventies-inspired look, it's also perfect for upcoming festival season!
