When we found out I was pregnant with San, we decided to rearrange the bedrooms. The boys each had their own rooms, but with the new arrangements they'd be together and the other room would become the nursery.
I teamed up with Wayfair for the redesign, and had a blast coming up with color schemes, choosing fabric and furniture, and then watching the whole room come together bit by bit. Building a bunk bed at eight months pregnant was not the highlight, but the rest was so fun. And I'm so excited to share it with you today!
The hardest part of the entire room for me was the comforters on the bed. We already had the rug from when it was Foster's room, and the bunkbed, chairs, and couch were easy to decide on, but I just couldn't find bedding that I loved. I searched through every store I could think of, with no luck, and finally decided that we could make them instead. My mom offered to help, so of course I jumped at that opportunity. But the hunt for good fabric proved to be just as hard as the the search for a ready made blanket. Finally I ran across this simple red-orange arrow print and instantly loved it. I knew I wanted a contrasting stripe on the back, but I couldn't find a nice wide-striped fabric anywhere. Then I happened to see this wide-stripe fabric on a duvet cover at IKEA, so I snagged two of those and my mom cut them up and used them as fabric. Plus we got striped pillowcases out of the deal! My aunt is a professional quilter and owns a long arm quilting machine, so we sent the quilts off to her to be quilted (with a simple large windowpane pattern), and then she sent them back to my mom who trimmed them down and added the binding around the edge.
I love, love, love how this room turned out, and the boys are so happy with their new space!
