ON ME: OLD NAVY BOYFRIEND TEE (on sale, wearing size medium) || SIMILAR JEANS || OLD NAVY FLATS (in store only right now)
ON SAN: OLD NAVY TEE (on sale!) || OLD NAVY OVERALLS (similar here) || FRESHLY PICKED MOCCS
There are a few things that every woman should have in her closet, one of which is t-shirts. I've gone through phases of wearing lots of tees, and through phases of wearing more dressy tops, but no matter what else you have in your closet, there are three tees you should absolutely have: a white tee, a gray tee, and a striped tee.
These three tees are the most versatile, the easiest to style, and are great for dressing up and dressing down -- they're absolute essentials! Old Navy has been my go-to for basics for a long time, for both my boys and me, and they just released a ton of new styles for their #NeverBasic line. They're all on sale right now, so I picked my favorite in each of these three styles (white, gray, and striped), and want to show you three ways to style each of them -- casual, dressed up casual, and dressy -- so you can see how very not-basic these basic tees can be.
For a plain white tee, I chose this boyfriend v-neck style. It's perfectly slouchy and comfortable for every day wear, but can also be dressed up! The styling possibilities are absolutely endless with a plain white tee, but here are three of my favorite ways. For a casual weekend, throw it on with a casual denim skirt and some printed flats. Then complete the look with a crossbody bag and a simple necklace.
To dress it up for a slightly dressed up evening, create a monochromatic look with white jeans, and then add a denim jacket, neutral sandals, and a dressier bag.
For church, a wedding, or a dressy evening out, tuck it into a feminine skirt, then add a pair of heels and a clutch. Easy!
For a gray tee, I found this crew neck pocket tee (the one I'm wearing above) and instantly liked it. I usually gravitate toward v-neck and scoop neck tees, but I liked the crew neck style of this one. The fabric is a little sturdier, but it still has a great drape to it. To keep it casual, I paired it with some basic distressed jeans, colorful sneakers, and a plaid button up tied around the waist. Add a fun little bag and you're set!
To dress it up a bit, I created a neutral look with white denim, black loafers, and a dressy gray bag. Then I completed the look with a big statement necklace.
For a dressy look, I half tucked it into a patterned midi pencil skirt, then added gray heels, a clutch, and a pendant necklace.
And finally, a striped tee. You can never have too many striped tees (like I shared earlier this week), and I really loved this boyfriend scoop neck tee from Old Navy. The drop shoulder sleeves make it interesting and super comfortable. For a casual day, I paired it with boyfriend jeans, fresh white sneakers, a baseball cap, and an easy little bag.
To dress it up, I wore it with black jeans, a light denim vest, and some super comfortable wedges.
And for the dressy look, I couldn't resist some print mixing with a floral a-line skirt and some black stilettos. Add a black clutch and you're set!
Hop over and grab some tees while they're on sale! And don't forget to check the kids section -- all the kids and baby tees are one sale right now too. I snagged this adorable tank for Fos for summer beach days, these cute one pieces for San, and a couple of these tees for B.
thank you to old navy for partnering on this post! || photos by rad and happy
